在备战中考冲刺阶段，较多同学提出的一个难点就是“other家族”。先看一道真题：
The king took it to the palace, but 27 he played it, the harp sounded terrible. Many 28 people tried it. They agreed that the harp was 29 and the king had been fooled. The harp was thrown out as rubbish.【2015年广州市中考语法选择】
28. A. another B. other C. others D. the other
“another? other? others? the other? 还有the others?噢！什么鬼?这么形似…头已晕！瞎选吧！”

哈哈！看一下“other家族”在不同考卷中出现的次数就知道重要性：
既然这么重要，该如何突破？
来！准备好笔记本，现在开始计时，5分钟搞定！
1、二选一，表示剩下的一个时，用the other。常考的搭配有One...,the other....。
E.g. I have two phones. One is red,the otheris white.
我有两台手机。一台是红色的，另一台是白色的。
2、表示三个或三个以上的又一个，另一个，再一个用another。
E.g. I have two phones. I will buyanother one.
我有两台手机。我将会再买一台。
3、表示在具体数量范围内的其他人/事物，用the others(=the rest剩余的全部)。常考的搭配有Some...the others...一些...，剩下的全部...。
E.g. I have eight phones. Two are red, the others are white.
我有8台手机。两台是红色的，其他剩下的都是白色的。
（老师，你太炫富啦吧！）
4、表示在没有具体数量范围内的某些人/事物，用others。因为不特指剩下的全部人/事物，所以不用the。
（省略N台手机的图示...）
E.g. I have hundreds of phones. Some are red, others are black andothers are pink.我有上百台手机。一些是红色的，其他的有的是黑色的，有的是粉色的。
（老师，我有密集恐惧症...原来你的真正身份是个卖手机的...）
5、表示“其他的xx”且用作形容词，用other，后加名词。
E.g.
1.In othercases, they are used to teach children to get on and share with others.【2014年广州市中考英语真题 阅读理解C】
翻译：在其他情况下，它们被用来教孩子与其他人相处和分享。
2.Their forest now has over 10,000 trees, hundreds of birds and many other wild animals.【2015年广州市中考英语真题 阅读理解A】翻译：现在他们的森林有超过一万棵树，成千上百只鸟和许多其它的野生动物。

答案：B。在名词people前应选用形容词，且结合文意“许多其他的人尝试过弹奏竖琴”。

答案：A。这里需要选一个代词，表示泛指其他的人。
3. There are twenty students in the room. Nine of them are girls and __________ are boys.
A the other B. the others
C. other D. others
答案：B。这里需要选一个代词，优先考虑含有others的答案；此外，有具体数目范围（20个学生），要用the特指。
3. She is always ready to help __________.
A other B. others
C. the other D the others
答案：B。这里需要选一个代词，表示泛指其他的人。
4. My sister has two skirts. One is yellow, __________ is black.
A. other B. another
C. others D. the other
答案：D。送分题，one...the other...一个...另一个...的搭配。
5. —The shoes don’t fit me. Would you please show me __________ pair?
—Sure. Here you are.
A. the other one B. the others
C. another D. another one
答案：C。表示另外一双，表示“又一，再一”。
